Firefighters suspended for playing butt ball. Guess that's why they call 'em "the bravest." Via the swell Ribbit.

Whose late-night humor is funniest? For my money, it's Kilby. I know, I know, you probably hate him. He cracks me up; he's greatly improved his interview skills; the show has booked much better A-listy guests this year, along with continued offbeat and/or up-and-coming musical guests; and Five Questions and Yombo totally rule. (And I secretly worship writer Alex Sorkin, who moonlights in front of the camera as Angry-Mike-Who-Thinks-Everything-Sucks and various Eurotrash types.) Sadly, I can rarely stay awake to watch it anymore. I wish I had TiVo.

Not much "new" in this Bill Hicks article, though it does whet the appetite for the biography American Scream, with intro by Janeane Garofalo.

100 Greatest Guitarists, according to Bob Gulla. Nice to see Kevin Shields and J Mascis on the list, but Metheny and Holdsworth ahead of Townshend and Richards? Nuh-uh.

Good design makes learning fun! Time Warp is an archive of technology. Be sure to click in the black boxes at left to view the "exhibit halls" (i.e., the 1983 Telcon Zorba computer) and on "research" to view the Technology Timeline.

The tale of the floating brothel: "I first fixed my fancy on her the moment I knocked the rivet from my irons upon her anvil." And: The story of the sexy skaters: "It's not true that people could spot our hips, as our underpants were covering us down to there."

Ears ringing. Oneida! See them on tour. They are awfully danceable. And very funny.
