Someone in this MeFi thread says the idea for The Osbournes, MTV's newest triumph, came from Howard Stern. I remember hearing him talk about it with Sharon -- I think it was the time she came by and ragged on Billy Corgan after her brief, ill-fated run as the Pumpkins' manager. Oh -- Howard's girlfriend "breaks her silence" in FHM this month.

I'm immersed in developing a new venture, one which I hope will become my new vocation. (But I'm not quitting my day job just yet. Lately, I quite like it.) I'm not ready to reveal what I'm up to; for now, enjoy The Food Timeline.

In addition to a renewed wanderlust and a heightened disdain for local grass, I brought back a few souvenirs from Amsterdam. Most of them were things I picked up and put in my pocket -- coasters, napkins, swizzle sticks, a half-pack of user-unfriendly rolling papers -- but I did purchase a couple of tiny portable toothbrushes from a public bathroom vending machine, and a two-pound bag of licorice from the Schipol airport. (A place that makes you wish you were a kid again.) I spent my last two Euros on Venco. Dutch licorice. Salted licorice. Zoete! It's an acquired taste, and, apparently, a habit-forming aphrodisiac.

Last night, after consuming copious amounts of raw fish, I opened a fortune cookie and read, "Do not mistake temptation for opportunity." I instantly realized that that is exactly what I do.

I recently browsed a beautiful retro-styled book a friend had purchased at the Ringling Museum of the Circus in Sarasota, Fla. Circus Lingo is sort of the online (short) version.

Oscar Blog 2K2. My two cents: Poitier, Washington, Berry -- wow. Whoopi -- should be caged in Center Square for life. With Bruce Vilanch. Oh, and, Ian McKellen's boyfriend? Dizzang! *Edited to add: For the multiple search requests that directed people here, this is the only "information" I've learned: He's an art student from New Zealand.
